Buxton Raceway in the Peak District ran its penultimate stockcar and banger meeting of the season yesterday the 9th November, in the Bombers class there was a Best Of Buxton Championship and this was won by Leek racer 551 Leyland Marson, in fact Leyland went on to win Heat 1 and Heat 2 as well and got a 2nd in the Final.
In the Open Rods class the British Championship was run, this was won by Crewe racer 180 Paul Lockett in his Honda Civic, Paul has won many races at the track this year and his winning just carried on as he too won both of his Heat races and came 3rd in the Final, Paul wins the annual points championship too which is a huge achievement for him and his team.
The Ladies Bombers class was a little low on competitors but this didnt stop Stoke driver 205 Kayleigh Walsh, she won the British Championship as well as a Heat race.
In the 1300 Stockcar class each race had a different winner, Heat 1 was won by 270 Dave Brookes from Leek, Heat 2 555 Amy Carr from Cheadle in Staffordshire, and the Final was won by 25 Stuart Hodson who travelled all the way from Lincolnshire to compete.
Finally we had the Hot Rods, these powerful 2L powered cars put on some amazing racing which any petrolhead will have loved, winning all three races of the afternoon was 134 Anthony Burgess who lives in Cheddleton, Leek, this rounded off an excellent days racing up at Buxton Raceway, the next and final meeting of 2014 is on Sunday November 23rd at 12pm which is the annual Bombers [also known as Bangers] Teams event, lots of crashing action for all the family, see www.buxtonraceway.com for more details.
